Why Outdoor Photography?

After a short hike on Cape Cod, you come across a rock formation that goes right into the ocean. They call it “The Nob” in Falmouth, MA. You get a stunning view of the sunset, unlike anywhere else. The golden hues in the landscape provide once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for portraits.

The ideal time to shoot outdoor portraits is around 2 hours before sunset. You can get dreamy photos like this one with beautiful hazy sun rays coming through to add a touch of magic. Shooting later in the day takes advantage of the best lighting and helps during those hot summer days too!

There is no light more beautiful on this planet than natural sunlight. Even the most extravagant lighting setups try to mimic the beautiful lighting that only sunlight can provide. Sunlight can transform the most ordinary spaces to make ethereal portraits that captivate viewers’ attention immediately.

Maybe you work in the elements and want to bring it out. Did you know that I can shoot in the rain? Rain makes impressive pictures if you can handle getting a little wet! That’s exactly what we did for this shoot. This realtor wanted to emphasize the fact that they go out in the rain, so I laid on the ground as she jumped in a water puddle, and we got the shot! Imagine trying to get this shot indoors!

My photography passion is capturing life the way it is in real life. I don’t like highly posed photoshopped portraits. That’s not my style. I like to capture raw emotion and natural beauty. Learning to get amazing photos in various natural lighting scenarios consistently has taken years of refining. Natural light has been my first love, and it is still my preference to shoot in today. There is truly something magical about it that simply cannot be recreated indoors.

Simply put, natural light is simply beautiful. But, if you want dreamy once-in-a-lifetime portraits with a lot of different looks then an outdoor shoot is the way to go!
