Grow where you are planted

I heard the quote years ago that you grow where you are planted, and lately I’ve really seen that idea come alive in my photography business. I moved into the Baton Rouge market after living in New Orleans for nearly a decade, and when my two boys were born, I wanted a slower, more family-oriented community where they could grow long-term.

I accepted an assignment from Crystal Bonin Realty to photograph a house, expecting a routine job in the Copper Mill development. When I opened the door, I was immediately greeted by my sons’ YMCA basketball coach — someone we had met a couple of years earlier. That small, unexpected connection felt like confirmation of being planted in a welcoming community. I’m deeply grateful for Baton Rouge — over the last decade of living and investing here, I’ve formed so many meaningful relationships that I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

After spending hours with this family on the basketball court and getting to know them, I immediately understood the vibe the owners wanted for their property photos and video.

This isn’t the only time i’ve seen photos I’ve taken going around town in Baton Rouge. Just today I picked up a special edition of Baton Rouge Business Insider admiring the amazing content. As I put it down I recognized the photo on the back. It was a picture that I took of the Baton Rouge Advisory Board with the Bank of St. Francisville and Country Roads Magazine at a very difficult lighting setup at Mestizos (of course the food is always amazing).

It may be bumping into the inventor of an amazing Real Estate app at Red Stick Farmers market or driving by a billboard with a photo that I took. It’s times like these that really make me feel like a part of the Baton Rouge Community and I am so thankful for it!

I’m noticing that after year after year of consistently serving this community the best I can, a distinct reputation has begun to form. If you’ve been in business for any length of time, you’ve developed a reputation too. That steady investment of care into your customers and clients deserves to be showcased for the whole city to see.

That’s exactly why I started my photography business — I’m here to highlight what you’ve already been building all along. Everyone has a story to tell, and I would love to capture yours.
