A photograph will outlive you

You cannot outlive a photograph. This reality hit home when I got a call from my Uncle on his hospice bed. During our last conversation, he wanted to let me know I would be getting all of his photography gear. My Uncle lived a simple life and had very few possessions but he always had a camera nearby no matter where he went.

He instilled in me to strive for what your passionate about. My uncle’s passion was photographing Yosemite National Park.

One day a 32lb box of photography equipment landed on my doorstep. Inside were several memory cards that contained some of his latest work. I took the liberty to edit a few photos in honor of him.

This experience editing his last works brought me back to the value of art. Digital files will live forever on the internet and hard drives long after we pass away. Life is so short that we all need to live like we may not see tomorrow.

I’m grateful for the lasting impact a photograph can have.
